“I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”

Mathew 17:20

The MOOOOVEEEE-ment

About

In the darkest days of the COVID-19 pandemic, when traditional recovery meetings had shuttered and isolation was rampant, a glimmer of hope emerged in an unlikely place—a warehouse in South Louisville. It was there, in 2020, that Gary Morris, a man in early recovery and one of the founding board members of A Vision For You Inc., found both sobriety and a renewed relationship with God. At a time when addiction recovery resources were scarce and many felt spiritually and emotionally adrift, At the Warehouse Gary had been gathering and volunteering with men for worship services and 12-step meetings in the only place open and large enough to allow for safe, socially-distanced gatherings.

It was during this season of adversity that Gary felt called to name a new A.A. meeting inspired by his growing faith—"Moving Mountains." The name drew from the biblical promise that faith, even as small as a mustard seed, can move mountains. The meeting quickly developed a strong sense of community and identity. Participants would often shout "MOOOOVE!" in unison, a playful yet passionate affirmation of the spiritual breakthroughs they were experiencing together.

The meeting moved from the warehouse into the E-Z Duz It Recovery Center in Southwest Louisville, and a vibrant Facebook page titled "Moving Mountains" was launched to support the growing movement. This early fusion of Christian discipleship and addiction recovery laid a spiritual foundation that continues to guide our work to this day.

Faith and Recovery: A Vision Fulfilled

When A Vision For You Inc. was founded, it was with the core mission to provide abstinence-based recovery services to individuals facing homelessness, addiction, and mental illness. But at its heart, the organization was birthed from the Christian conviction that true recovery must also involve spiritual renewal. From the earliest days of our program, Lucas Bennett, now Executive Director, began teaching a faith-based twelve-step class each week on campus—often alongside Gary Morris.

That small weekly class has since evolved into a full-fledged ministry.

Introducing: Moving Mountains Ministry

Today, Moving Mountains Ministry represents the spiritual arm of A Vision For You Inc., honoring Gary Morris’s early vision and leadership. The ministry’s mission is clear and bold:

“To lead the homeless, addicted, mentally ill, and maladjusted to a relationship with Christ and equip them to serve others.”

Through this ministry, we continue to offer the original faith-based 12-step classes on our residential recovery campus. But we’ve grown far beyond a weekly gathering:

  • We distribute Life Recovery Bibles to those we serve, ensuring that spiritual guidance is always within reach.

  • We are launching a minister training program, equipping men and women in recovery to become spiritual leaders and recovery mentors.

  • We are preparing to replicate the ministry model in 2026 in prisons, churches, and other treatment centers, extending our reach to some of the most underserved populations in addiction treatment and reentry services.

Transforming Lives Through Faith and Recovery

At its core, Moving Mountains Ministry bridges the gap between clinical addiction treatment and spiritual transformation. It stands as a testament to how faith-based initiatives can complement traditional models of recovery, bringing holistic healing to individuals who have been marginalized, criminalized, and cast aside.

And it all began with one man’s surrender to God in a warehouse during a global crisis.
